Yo, STHULA

Love possesses a strength that is beyond common understanding. The mother, sweaty and exhausted, carrying her sick child in her arms, finds in the love for her son a source of energy that revives her with every step.

Love drags men and women out of the “valley of the shadow of death” with a force that cannot be denied. Between the beings who love you and those whom you love, there exists a powerful bond that, in earthly life and in this other invisible one, serves you—like the handrails of stairs and bridges—as a source of security and confidence through mutual support.

The astonishing healings that the Lord performed among the sick, and the acts of heroism and inspiration that His followers were capable of because of Him, surpassed the boundaries of Magic; but the key to the miracle, the explanation of those mysteries, the source of that power, was none other than Love. “Love one another as I have loved you all”; “God is Love, and whoever loves is pleasing to Him.”

Faith in Love and the Goodness of God predisposes you to face sadness and tragedy with hope. This is how Isaiah understood it when he wrote:

“Oh, Lord! What brilliant waves of good
I obtain from Thee upon the summit of the mountain!”

The devastation produced by sadness rests on the fact that this sadness is entirely within you, for you have let it enter your interior intact without having opposed it with any real truth to block its path. You have allowed it to settle in the middle of your soul, and now it erases the memory of yesterday's joy and hides from you the possibilities of tomorrow.

You easily allow yourselves to be submerged, under the weight of loss, in the shadowed valley, forgetting to climb to “the summit of the mountain.” Why sink into your own weakness and misery? Is not the shadow a vain hallucination, a simple absence of light? And is this light not, perhaps, the legitimate truth, the true profile which, as in portraits, constitutes the real image of Life, although, as in portraits, it also has a bit of shadow?

Your difficulty with sadness lies in the fact that it is an isolated moment in time. The moment in which you stop to look at a horrible "present," sadness turns it into an isolated lapse, into an island of defeat surrounded by solitude.

On Tabor, I said to Our Sacred Lord Manvantara while greeting Him:

-Lord, are you alone?
- “I am never alone,” He answered me, “because my Father is with me.”

I reveal this answer to you, so that it may serve as a spur against your sadness and solitude.

Carry firmly within you Love and charity, the beauty and the joy of the Most High, so that the isolated moment in time of your anguish may dissolve into the perspective of Eternity, and the island of defeat may become a mountain of understanding and a magical fountain of inner light.
