I
en que luna sin velos pierde el pudor;
cuando la ola incansable se precipita,
y en las tibias arenas fiel deposita,
la ofrenda de su espuma, como una flor;
un Ego milenario en mi resucita,
y bajo la estrellada noche infinita,
todos mis pensamientos hablan de amor!
II
que a la madre olvidada da gesto y voz;
sin que puedan los ciegos ver una flor;
de ninos desnutridos se oye la tos;
quisiera ser el padre del mundo entero,
y en ondas vibratorias lanzo sincero
todos mis pensamientos que hablan de amor.
III
Cuando duda, o malicia, demuestra el necio
por la charla erudita del Preceptor;
y el soberbio responde con su desprecio
al humilde que quiere hacerle un favor;
cuando ultraja un marido, con puno recio,
a la esposa que cuida casa y honor;
cuando un mal ciudadano le pone precio
a su libre conciencia, sin un rubor;

When the tropics display their golden treasure,
their rich gems, their radiance,
and in the foliage the birds form the choir
that provides the background for the nightingale's arias:
when the sunset feigns a golden tray,
in which the sun is extinguished beheaded,
and the east is a sumptuous Moorish palace,
where the unveiled moon loses her modesty;
when the tireless wave precipitates,
and upon the warm sands faithfully deposits,
the offering of its foam, like a flower;
a millennial Ego resuscitates within me,
and under the infinite starry night,
all my thoughts speak of love!
II
When the soul of the convict, in the final instance,
dissipates the surrounding darkness,
with the cinematic focus of a joyful childhood
that gives gesture and voice to the forgotten mother;
when the young invalid is stirred by the longing
to run through the sun-filled fields,
and Spring gives us light and fragrance,
while the blind are unable to see a flower;
when a banker moans in perpetual diet,
and often, in the house where there is no money,
the cough of malnourished children is heard;
I wish to be the father of the entire world,
and in vibrating waves I launch sincerely
all my thoughts that speak of love.
III
When the fool demonstrates doubt or malice
toward the erudite discourse of the Preceptor;
and the arrogant responds with his contempt
to the humble man who wishes to do him a favor;
when a husband outrages, with a heavy fist,
the wife who tends to the home and honor;
when a bad citizen puts a price
on his free conscience, without a blush;
I think that all those live on delusions,
because they are carving out their own harms,
and seeing how much evolution they lack,
their disillusionments grieve me in advance,
and for them, I wish they would be stepping stones,
all my thoughts that speak of Love.
